Tail fin fungus, please help!

    On Tuesday I got 3 lyretail anthias from Diver's Den. They are very active, eat like pigs and seem very healthy. However, one of the females has fungus on her tail fin. I contacted LA and they said that can happen from shipping, since the water in the bag gets so gross, etc.

    My question is, what should I do about it? Is it contagious, or just opportunistic?

    I really need some guidance! Thank you!!

    Ack! – My fish has the same problem and I was about to post as well. Can we make a collective cry for advice? I too just bought my little guy and he had it on other parts of his body as well. Best of luck in the diagnosis.

    QT the fish and Use Maracyn or Maracyn 2 :)

    Or the dreaded melafix and pimafix treatement.

    Can't QT. I was hoping to avoid putting pima and mela in there again. I finally got my skimmer working right like a month after using them the first time!!

    Dont use maracyn in your tank lol. inverts + coral will hate you.

    Yeah, I think pima and mela is my only option.

    Has anyone used Maroxy?

    Does it look like cotton fin? How big of a patch is it? All I can really recommend is prima as well, but I'd make sure to also feed the fish food soaked in vitamins and HUFAs.

    BTW, the fungus shouldn't spread to healthy fish very easily.
