    Sure, you can easily run more actinic bulbs to reduce PAR. Notice how I never said what bulbs to run?

    That's fine and dandy, but we are not here to discuss the semantics of exactly how watts relates to heat transfer to a tank. :p

    On a small tank, even one lit my a 250 w MH, you will have lot of evaporative cooling. That would be an ideal tank to have an ATO on. (IMHO all SW tanks are, but that one would be maddening otherwise)

    I don't have an ATO and I have to add about a gallon to the sump every 2-3 days. Heat has never been an issue for me though.
