Suspected aiptasia (UPDATED 3/1/2011)

    I think this is aiptasia but I just was hoping it isn't...

    That could aiptasia or another pest anemone. I would suggest killing it.

    I think it's worth mentioning that the surrounding coral were only disturbed by me to take the picture. Almost as soon as I took the pic they "bloomed" again.

    Also, I will be killing it, just have to figure out the best way being so close to a colony of coral.

    That doesn't look like any aiptasia I've ever seen... there are hundreds of varieties.

    Things, like anemones, are only "pests" if they reproduce out of control... Otherwise...


    I say keep researching it b4 jumping to killing it...

    Where is your live rock from?Looks like a caribbean coral to me-I just can't think of the name right now.

    The rock that you can see in the pic is actually separate from the rock that the coral is on. The rock in the pic is from fiji (supposedly) and I have no idea where the rock that the coral is on came from (other then the LFS).

    it doesn't look like aiptasia to me. look closely at its base, does it have a short stoney stump to it? looks like a tiny coral
