SunBrite Lighting Systems is about to answer some prayers and flood the USA market with a full spectrum of PAR38 LED spotlights. SunBrite's PAR38s come in three different arrays of 1watt LEDs - 9, 12 and 15 (watts). Kelvin goes all the way from 6k to over 20k. Notable is an SPS-UV model that kicks out a bit of UV for stony corals. That coupled with PAR of over 400 at 18" for several of SunBrite's reef bulbs and a price range of $119 to $159, means happy times ahead for our LED friends soon.

I know it would be pricey, but a single 6500k over a fuge would be sweet.

Was this at MAX 2010? I'm testing one of there LED system out right now. I looked at some of the others at the show and liked these the most. Par reading from SunBrite was well above their competitors even thought it may not look as nice.

New to LEDs. If the par rating is that high does it throw the whole watts per gallon(I know this has never been a good measurement) out the window? If I only had 3 sps corals and got a bulb pointing at them would it work?

    This is great news.

For a fuge, why not get a cheap PC par38 bulb?

ok, so if im understanding this right first you need the light hood (48" @ $229 controls 1-8 bulbs) then the bulbs cost $119 - $159 each depending on the Led config in the bulb?

    1 x $229 hood
    8 x $159 bulbs
    1 x $139 timers (1-8 bulbs)
    --------
    $1640

Not bad considering you can add bulbs as you save up the cash instead of having to lay it all out at once.

i think the par38 is a different solution than the hood bulb setup. my understanding was each par38 is a self contained fixture. i could be wrong though

no your right, these are all individual units.
you could use one over a nano or you could use several over a bigger tank.

hey, I like that even better, buy a bulb as needed :)
Do they fit in standard sockets then?
