Somewhere down the line I intend to upgrade sump/fuge.
Question for those with dual return. If space permitted

How many of you use independent pump for dual return?

Would it not be best to have dual pumps for redundancy if 1 crapped out?

Can you think of any draw back to dual pump scenario?

Only thing I can think of is more piping and possible heat increase(maybe)..

I'd go with one return return pump teed into a split for each return. Its much cheaper.

It will cost more, but two is good redundancy like you were thinking.

I vote one pump, with a spare on the shelf ready to go :) One pump will be more efficient than two pumps pushing the same amount of water, so less energy used, less heat generated, and the cost of a larger pump will likely only be a little more than the cost of one of the smaller pumps.

Really you can't go wrong either way though. So just do whatever you are most comfortable with.

thanks for the replies. I currently have a large pump running both the feeds but it is external. When I go to a larger sump/fuge it will require me to move pump internal so will need a new pump. Figured best to do a little planning and see how others were doing things.

It is only a 135 so maybe with bigger tanks it would be more beneficial.

Again thanks for the input and saving money is always a good thing because there is always something else I will want to buy.
