Ditto the recommendation for the Mag Drives. I have one 9.5 and 2 5's in my 58 gallon with no heat or noise issues. :D

I've had good luck with the new Rio Hyperflow. Don't get the older rio's which are junk!
But you can't go wrong with the mag drives except that they are power hungry and supposedly cause alot of heat.

I agree with getting a mag. I run a mag 18 for my return pump and a mag 9.5 on my berlin skimmer and they kick butt and pretty quiet. As for the power consumption the mag 18 pulls 193 watts, and the mag 9.5 pulls 93 watts I think thats pretty efficient considering the performance and reliability.

Can't beat the mag pumps! On a standard tank with a 1" drain i would go with a mag 9.5.

I got the Mag-7's on Darin's (Captivereef) suggestion! One to feed the skimmer and one for the return (1" return). Not set up yet but I am sure they will be fine.....(I think!).......

Has Anybody heard of these by LIFETECH:
    LT3500 600GPH

    LT4550 700GPH

    LT5400 1180GPH

    LT4660 1260GPH

I need a return pump from my sump to my NEW 55 Gal. But I would like for it to carry enough pressure so that I can make a fitting tree and just use that to circulate water, that way I don't have to put powerheads inside the tank. I'm looking at the Mag drive 9.5, but these LIFETECHs are cheap and push more GPH.

    What do you guys think?
