    Hello,

    I've seen this video :

How To Clean Reef Aquarium - YouTube

3:30 mark he starts moving the substrate around , now i have the exact same substrate as in the video.

Mine needs a bloody good clean and it seems a good way of cleaning it but whats your thoughts??

Looks alittle aggressive and could it cause problems?

    Thanks

How long as your tank been set up?
How deep is the sand bed?

Just under 8 months. An inch deep.

Its the stony type bed like in the video.

Too be safe I would do it in sections and not all at once.

If you routinely vacuum than that is a different story, but to attempt to vacuum the entire sand bed of a tank that has not had the sand bed disturbed in 8 months would give me pause.

I would suggest you also have SW made up and ready to do a water change.

I would use a siphon to clean your substrate then go to the stir method weekly afterword.
