    Hi guys!
I'm thinking about starting a saltwater tank for the first time. I've decided on a 40 gal tank. I would like to have fish and live coral. I'm new to this, so I would love help from you guys. Thanks for reading!

Welcome to 3reef. My advice would be to read and research as much as possible and go slow. Plan out your filtration and stocking and ask us to evaluate it before purchasing.
    Good luck!

Yes it can be really confusing, you sometimes see a lot of contradictory information. Just go slow, ask questions.

So for the 40 gallon, is this a 40 gallon breeder (are you getting the tank at petco or petsmart)?

It would behoove you do have the tank drilled if possible.

Start a build thread and we can walk you through what you need assist with.

    It's a breeder I believe. Its 36' x 18' x 18'

I have no clue what drilled is....

I'll see if I can start the new thread.

Hey Michael, welcome. You've come to the right place. To start a build thread, go to the top of this page and hit "forums". Scroll down to "show off your tanks". Then upper corner is" start a new thread ". Then it's all yours. You can Google " drilled salt water aquarium tanks " or something like that to find out more about drilling your tank.
