Common names: Fire fish, Fire gobie, Fire dartfish
    Scientific name: Nemateleotris Magnifica
    Max. length 3.5 in
    Min. aquarium size: 20 gal.
    Care level: Easy
    Reef safe: Yes
    Family: Gobiidae
    Resides: Indo pacific ocean
Food: Meaty mixed with greens(will feed on flakes)
Compitability: Community fish. Larger fish may pick on or eat your fire fish. Although with all fish compatibility my depend on individual. If keeping other fire fish make sure they are a mated pair cause fire fish will fight with each other.
Interesting fact: Fire fish's elongated dorsal fin is used to communicate with other fire fish.
Note: Fire fish are easy to keep but tend to be jumpers. Lids for tanks are suggested but may not be necessary. While acclimating fire fish caution should be taken, fire fish tend to spook easy. When fire fish settle in they can find a burro or cave and tend to sleep and hide in. Make sure you have good hiding places if you inted to keep a fire fish.
Fire fish tend to be stable swimmers and will hang in one particular part of the tank all day. They will also hang out towards top of tank in hopes of finding a good meal.
Personal notes: My fire fish is a very interesting fish he likes to swim in the middle of the tank and display its wonderful colors. It will also shoot like a dart back to its den when provoked or tired. While other fish had ick my fire fish seemed to be very hardy against it.
Fire fish are also one of the cheaper fish, mine only cost $15.
The colors are vibrant and deep (Yellows reds greens and blues)

Good article 10! I didn't realize they were or can be jumpers! Here's a pic of mine. I've enjoyed having it in my tank. Adds a nice bit of color!

Nice. I've heard they do better in groups. Should they/can they be kept singly?
