I have no idea what this thing is. Its is living in a hole inside a shell. Im not sure how long it actully is, i have seen about a 1/4 an inch but it wont fully exit the hole. It starts very thin and as more of it exits the head seems to thickin. It has little hairs along the side an is pink to almost red. Like i said it hasnt left the hole YET and if i lift the lid of the tank it retracks so removing it has been impossible and there is a pom pom on the shell. Any clue what it is?

Looks like could be a Sea Pen.

If so, you are really lucky. Known to be very hard to ship and keep in aquarium.

Love that "alien" stuff that shows up on its own. ;D

I found this site, Worm Hitch Hikers
great site for me as a beginner, im thinking its something closer to the Amphinomidae "fireworm". From what i can see its not a sea pen, the site says its harmless so i guess if thats what it is , life is good?
