    At least this is a start. Thats a lot of plastic & junk though!!!! Pretty amazing & sad at the same time. Only way to clean it up would be to pay companies by the pound to haul it away.

    I am really glad to hear that a group is working towards this. Is it still legal for States/Provinces to dump their garbage at sea or has this been finally stopped as well? Perhaps the Governments of all coastal Countries should cough up some cash to allow groups like this to do something in a form of conservatorship.

    I think most of it has to start with public awareness. I had no idea about this mess & probably sailed right by that vortex several times out there on fishing trips.
    The same is true with global warming, the dolphin hunting, & going green I guess. Until its brought out into the publics eye, nothing will change.
