Soft or hard water?

    I guess it pretty much explains itself. I use well water on my ten gallon planted tank and i was wondering if hard or soft water would be better for my tank. The soft water goes through a water softener that uses salt. Thanks all!

    your gonna want soft water for your planted tank

    More iron and magnesium....

    Don't use water from the softener. The salt will kill your plants. Plants prefer softer water. If your well water is to hard mix it with RO or RODI water.

    Good ranges for planted tank water is dKH 5 to 8 and GH 6 to 10.
