Snorkeling in gulf shores alabama

    So im here in gulf shores alabama for spring break and i happen to have a snorkel kit with me:D is there anything to see right off the beach? Obviosly theres no coral reefs, but is there anything else to see?

    U might get to see some butterflies, starfish, urchins, maybe a puffer, seahorses, sharks...just depends if u find rockwork u could see much more nothing super colorful..but cool nonetheless

    Cool, thanks! Its not tropical water so there wont be as much. Theres a TON of moon jellyfish.

    Im going in today, ill let you know what i see. Hopefully i dont cross paths with a portuguese man of war.:eek:

    And remember, cabbage heads don't sting humans. Port. MOW will, wqatch out for stray tentacles as well. Have fun. You might ask around the locals for any wrecks in 0-50 ft. of water for snorkeling.

    PS- Just noticed you are in TX. I lived most of my grade school days in NOrth Dallas and northern burbs- Richardson, etc. I even got my Scuba Cert., in a class while attending UT Austin, Hook em Horns!

    Thanks, will do! Theres a service here that will take you out to an artificial reef and ship wreck.

    Im actually in north fort worth. Weve got some nice lfs here.:D

    Not much to see around gulf shores. There is a shipwreck near Pensacola. Plenty of fun tourist traps though. Is the water park open? I have a condo in orange beach near where you are now.
