Yeap! Sure looks like a Crown Conch.
Nah, not a conch or whelk. It's a muricid, either ergalataxine or rapanine. The subfamilies almost tend to overlap on conchological characteristics, and with a pretty juvenile like yours, it's hard to make a positive comparison. Most of the "adult" photos are a lot rougher and more eroded or encrusted. It will be predatory, but I'm not sure what it will eat. Here are a couple of species that are similar, from the two subfamilies:
Muricodrupa pothuanii has quite an impressive shell.
