Found this snail moving across my substrate. I didn't add him, but looks sort of like cowrie maybe? I'm never that great at ids so I thought I'd get a second opinion. I assume it's young as there dosn't appear to be any algae on its shell yet. Cool little guy anyway.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It is a Cowry, which one I do not know. I do know that some eat corals like gorgonians. Member pajojoe mostly likely knows, perhaps Sushigirl. Very cool hitch-hiker.

Thanks Cheryl. I know they can be iffy... I'll keep my fingers crossed. I think the good news is the predators have fairly specific diets. Mostly soft corals, which I have very few. Hopefully if it's a predator it will trim my zoas back a bit

Well, it's actually a marginellid, but they can look almost exactly like cowries. They can be predatory on other tiny animals in your tank, including snails, but they primarily scavenge. One of them won't be a problem, but a bunch of them might tend to degrade the variety and scope of your sand bed fauna.

    Cheers,
