Whenever I have read about silver dollars, they always say that they require a very large tank. I have 3 in a 15 gallon aquarium. They are healhy, active, eating well & growing larger each day. I would say they are between 2 & 3 inches now.

I am not exactly sure what you are referring to when you say "silver dollars." Do they go by another name? Pictures will be very helpful.

If they say the fish requires a large tank than I doubt a 15g is goin to fly with 3 of them. Sure thing if you can see them grow everyday. Here's another comment.

Yes that is a silver dollar.

To answer the inferred question in the 1st post, you may have issues down the road as from I just read looking this up they can get up to 5 inches long and require a lot of feeding... leading to nitrates ... leading to water quality issues.. leading to major problems...

so I would think about a bigger tank soon.

They look like a really cool fish. I would guess, as I don't have any experience with fresh water tanks, that if it is recommended that they be kept in a larger tank, then they probably will need a larger tank at some point. Many people in salt water buy tangs that requires a fairly large tank as they grow, but get them small and keep them in smaller tanks until they grow out of them. I guess it would be the same concept.

Ours has been mildy skittish and and aggressive though, so keep you eyes and ears open for any problems. He has to have his little plastic plant forrest of fun to hide behind. But they eat like pigs as well.
