I've had my pleco for about 3 years and a couple of days ago I noticed he was very swollen. I'm very worried about him (or her) and I've been searching the internet trying to find out what I should do. I have a 30 gal
tank with a couple of guamies and two tetras and they are fine. Does anyone have any idea what's happening and what I can do?

Don't treat with any meds unless you have a true diagnosis. It probably just ate some bad algae. Plecos are beasts and can live through most anything. Just let him go and don't intervene.

Pic would help greatly, but sounds like common bloat. Happens frequently with plecos, especially in tanks where their tank mates are fed foods heavy in complex proteins.

Has he been having trouble going number 2, and is anything coming out of him look very white, not your standard brown?
