So recently my clownfish has been fading in color but has been eating and behaving normally. But this morning he was hiding out in a corner with my starfish and he looks more pale than ever. In addition he is breathing rapidly, not accepting food, and his fins seem to be deteriorating. What disease could this be? Also if you are wondering my other fish is her boyfriend a black occelaris who is very healthy and happy also he has been watching over her ever since shes been sick. My parameter are as follows: PH 8.3, ammonia 0 ppm, nitrite 0 pmm, nitrate 20 ppm, alk 12 dkh, calcium 500-540. These are last I checked but I just did a water change a few minutes ago so the params should be better now.

If you can post an image that might help.

Your Ca and alk are too high IMO, but I do not know how that would adversely affect the clown.

    Is the fish being bullied?

How long has this been going on?

I'll try but it usually doesn't work

Yeah I've been trying to take them down. Any tips would be appreciated.

    No, not that I've witnessed.

The discoloration for 3-4 weeks but it was slow and subtle. The rest of the symptoms have only been occurring today.

To get those levels down I would start by testing both your water source prior to mixing in the salt and after mixing in the salt. I would also try to compare your values against another kit, perhaps the at the local fish store.

If you are dosing anything like "Purple up" you should stop.

Since the clown is not eating giving Selcon or Melafix is not possible.

In my experience once a clown stops eating that is usually a bad sign, it's very frustrating.

You can try other foods like cyclopezz or mysid shrimp and see if that peaks the fish interest.

No signs or symptoms of internal parasites?

    Ok.

That's unfortunate. If and when she starts eating I will try one of those.

    Mhm.

I do normally feed mysis and I will probably go get some cyclopeze.

Not that I've noticed but I will keep looking.

Also I forgot to mention he is just sitting on the bottom which is very unlike himself.

    Never mind. Too late... :(

But if some one could give me an idea of what it is for future reference that would be great.

My money is on Flukes. Prazi-pro is a reef-safe treatment that should work on Flukes if you ever notice any of your other fish with similar symptoms.
