if they are aptasia peppermints will eat them but not majano
honestly I don't know what that is maybe some kind of tube anemone. can you get a better pic

I hope you rinsed his sand in saltwater first, alot of times in poorly taken care of tanks(or really any tank for that matter) the sand has alot of waste in it.

Well, the first scoop I didnt and it looked like someone dumped brown juice in the tank. Then the rest of the scoops I did rinse it in the clean water from my tank.
Some of those anemones that I took a picture of are about 2" diameter.
I am noticing a few other that do look light brown that are much smaller on another rock.

I would start a thread and see if you can get anyone to identify the blue one, I think alot of people would still identify the browns as aptasia even though there tenticles are weird. If one can Identify them I would remove them(atleast the browns), the rules of the reef are guilty till proven innocent. Better that way then have something that kills your expensive corals.

btw aptasia do come in different forms but I've never seen a purple one.

The guy emailed me a said he did have an outbreak of them a while back. The tank has been neglected for good amount of time because he has been moving and back and forth.
I asked him why he didnt tell me! he hasn't responded. Should I get worked up about this or just get some joes juice and some peppermint shrimp?
Basically there on every single rock out of the 90lbs.
I dont have any corals yet and dont plan on getting any right away.

I wouldn't worry just yet the anemones won't spread if they have no food(light/food/or poor water quality).

I am assuming you don't have 10's or 100's of them. also since this guy say's he has had a outbreak I would chalk up one point to them being invasive, so eventually you will want to get rid of them.

thats quite alot, you may as well buy or try some method to remove them.

Hey don't worry if you mess up, if there a little piece of the anemone left a new one will grow and you can try again;D

This sucks. I thought I was doing great buying some established rock and now I have a headache. Should I demand this guy to refund me some $
I paid him $60 for the 90 or so lbs.
