I put a thawed out shrimp that was frozen in a nylon pouch. Question is, can I leave it in the sump, or should it be in the tank sitting on the substrate?

be best in your display tank. thats where you want the bacteria to feed on it. was this shrimp uncooked? if not, thats the type you need.

How long should I keep this guy in the tank? The water smells terrible and is cloudy.
I have him in a nylon sack.

id leave it in there its basically devoured by the bacterias. keep them well fed to get your cycle moving along. what type of live rock do you have in there? was it cured? if it wasnt , that can give off an unpleasant odor too.

What do you mean keep them well fed? He is dead.
Also, is it to large? Its a 4-5" shrimp.
    Also, no live rock yet.

Dry base rock in a 90. I have 50 lbs from Marco on the way. I will also be adding (some) liverock just to get some coraline growing and some other goodies.

How long do you think that will take with a JUMBO 5" shrimp?
My water looks like its half milk.
