Okay, so today I took the fixture down. I took out all the bulbs, cleaned salt creep, inspected, etc. everything looked fine.

I plugged the fixture in and starting putting bulb by bulb in to see if something happened.

Well...half the fixture doesn't work at all! The On/Off switch does not light up, and obviously isn't running bulbs.

So obviously something was shorting out, causing the shocks and causing half the fixture to die! LAME.

Anyone know what it could be? Does this sound like a ballast issue?

And do you think it's safe to run half the lights so my coral are getting something?!

as much a s I would like to say go for it..you have to make sure power problem of unknown origin will not cause harm if plugged in and operating...so that said...I would get someone with a little meter and the ability to test some current..your problem could be identified quickly and then if fixable, fix it or disable that "side" if that's an option until part is acquired. : )

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you alter the placement of the bulbs with the bulbs not working does one bulb that did not work previously work when moved to another position?

I would sure call your fish guy and have him take a look before trying to run the lights with a possible electrical issue.

Your corals and anemone will be fine for a day or two without lighting.

    Good luck

Well the half that is not working is on a separate plug and switch, so do you think if I don't plug that in then it would be safe to run the other half?

    Electricity freaks me out!!

Yes, all the bulbs work, just not half the fixture. Ugh.

I called my fish guy (left a message) and Greg from Reefgeek.com (where I bought the light, awesome place!) has been helping me. I just sent him an email. Hoping I hear back!

I would exercise extreme caution at his time...coralline stated a couple days no harm...reach out and get someone over to look at it. :p
    please.;D

My fiance is so annoying - he is the problem! HE doesn't take anything seriously. He keeps saying to just plug it back in, etc. whatever. UGH. Men.
