I have finnally got my 4 inches of sand base settled in my tank. I have added 4pounds of live sand to seed it. Is this enough to seed a 75 gal aquarium? How long should I let the tank sit before I introduce a damsel to cycle the aquarium? and how many will i need? :)

I would not use Damsels to cycle your new tank. It is considered cruel practices, as what you are doing is slowly killing (in a very painful way) the Damsel. Ammonia that occurs during the cycle kills fish because it burns the gills when the fish breaths so the fish begins to breath shallow to avoid the painful intake of ammonia. This eventually oxygen staved the fish and it dies.

Please don't use fish to cycle your tank. A cheaper and happier method is to use fish food or I cycled using uncooked shrimp from the grocery store.

Oh I did not know. I don't want to hurt them. How would I go about dcycling the tank with uncooked shrimp? I have never heard of this. They told me at Big Als here in ottawa to cycle with Damsels.

4lbs of ls is more than enough to seed it you will be fine with that

as far as shrimp cycling take maby 3 or 4 shrimp and toss em in thats all you have to do. as the tank cycles and bacteria builds it will eat the shrimp up and they will dissapear

Thank you I have two shrimp in there now and they are looking kind of fuzzy. I will put in another one. I got a few blue legged hermit crabs in with the live sand and they seem to like the shrimp.
