    Hello,
I recently purchased a seagrass wrasse and he was swimming around and eating fine the past few days and today I came home and he looked great and i decided to feed him. I think this was a mistake because a little while after i did he started acting very strange. he is now sideways and seems to be very stressed. I called my lfs and they said to turn the lights off and maybe it will help, but so far no good. Does anyone know what could have caused this or how to calm him down???

What type of gravel do you have?

    What other tankmates?

    Size tank?

    What did you feed him?

    Any other info would help.

I have sand as my substrate, and he is in the tank with only a dwarf lion fish and a banded moray eel. The tank is 50 gallons ( i know the eel will out grow thus but it is only a baby). I fed mysis shrimp, and i noticed he ate one big one and then his gills kind of widened out and thats when it started. Is it possible he is choking????

It's possible during feeding time he got injured by your lion or eel?

First guess would be stung by the Lion.

Unless the wrasse was real small, I couldn't imagine that it would choke on mysis, but anything is possible. I had one for a while, and they can put down good sized pieces of food. I usually fed mine chopped seafood and the big NLS pellets.

I dont believe so because i watched the tank while i fed them and didnt notice either one going after him, plus he is bigger than the lion.

He is about 4-5" in length and he keeps doing this thing with his jaw like he is trying to get something out.

What would the effects of a lion fish sting be?
