So I bought fourty pounds of live rock five snails and two hermit crabs today for thirty bucks. The rock came from a tank that ran for five years. My question is will it make my tank cycle adding this live rock?

If there is no die off on the rock, you will not get another cycle.

    ^ This. ^

And if you're adding to a large, established system, a small amount of die-off won't really hurt anything.

And, in most cases, I wouldn't tansfer any wet/live sand either.
Good price- did I miss the FTS?

yea the sand was five years old I wasn't really interested in it. I go on Craigslist everyday. People are always dismantling or upgrading. I got my 55gwith stand for free. I got my maristar 4ft double ender mh t5 combo with built in less and ballast for 50 bucks. My protein skimmer I bought brand new on amazon for thirty bucks thought it would be garbage but it works incredible I originally bought 15 pounds of live rock and five pounds of live sand and used it to seed my tank. That cost the most of anything at 75 bucks then I found this guy dismantling tank people getting out of the hobby just want it gone I guess. Most of the pieces are about 90% covered with coraline just gotta figure out how to rearrange it in my tank now. My tank until yest only had live rock and explosion of tiny copepods. Mini brittle stars and one snail it has been running almost two months now
