Is the "suspect" mounted on a foot, similar to a clam, or have you seen it more at all?

i havent seen a foot but it seems to be attached itself to the zoa rock and has feeders by the mouth area. this is my first time seeing the "suspect" so i think its a fairly new hitchhiker.

I'd say you're looking at a mussel or oyster, not a scallop. I've never seen a scallop with a shell that has lines across like this does, only from the hinge to the edge.

Is it wedge-shaped & asymmetrical or is it pretty symmetrical? Do those lines go the same direction as the hinge?

If asymmetrical, it might be an oyster, or muscle.

Scallops, will have tiny eyes, along each edge of the opening, being more symmetrical, as so, are clams. Though clams will have a foot & scallops do not have a foot.
