Saw this growing out of my candy cane coral?

    common vermatid snail. They shoot out a web to catch food. Annoying, but harmless.

    It looks like it is growing out of the coral.

    its growing on the corals skeleton,they are stationary,I just smash them or snap them off.

    Yeah, i got a huge one..He tries to grap my palys and i suck up his web. THey are annoying for sure.

    The are in fact not harmless. In large numbers they can grow over corals or sting them enough to where they can recede or die. Albeit this RARELY occurs but taking care to remove the ones you can will keep them from becoming overly invasive.

    In large numbers they can irritate corals, they don't "sting" per say. That is very unusual though. If it gets to that level, usually there is something else going on, such as overstocking/overfeeding. Typically they are fairly benign.
