what do you want to know in regards to action? also how old is your tank? a sand sifter needs an established aquarium to thrive. but ive seen mine 3\4's of the way up my glass at times.

I wanted to know if i have to pick it out of the tank before i go to sleep....Will it implode in the tank...The tank is running for nearly 6 months now(@ my place) This was a tank which was running for 2 years @ my friend's...

the issue is not with it being on the top but the bulge on its center as seen on the pic...any idea why that happens?

I've never seen that before. The middle is swollen... he looks like an octo in the middle.

    ^exactly mate

The middle is swollen...Its not the angle...the center part that you see is not its arms but the junction area and it has swollen up

the middle looks like one of the legs over the mouth to me. i would put my hand in and scoop him up and look at him. just dont pull him out of the water. since stars dont like air.

That is if it was the photo...I am sure it is not the leg or anything because at times because of this bulge the star just floats upto the top...he then slowly moves down by sticking on to the glass and then buries half into the sand..

Could he have eaten something big?? But do they actually eat anything big ? :S

Floating.... not good. How big of a tank and how big of a star? If he croaks will be burp your tank parameters?... cause he probably will croak.

I'd flip him over and look at his underside.
