Out of both laziness and finding better use for $, I have long used a rubbermaid tub for a sump...They make one the perfect size for my cabinet.

If you also use, be warned, exposure to saltwater makes them very brittle over time.

I have replaced mine every other year, and always amazed at just how fragile it has gotten.

You are gonna one day have a great flood, if you use and do not replace periodically...[IMG]

    FYI

Have finally decided to replace with a acrylic box. (will do next month while wife and girls out of town. --- for some reason they all get very antsy when doing any serious work on tank...probably for good reason.:p)

I kept asking myself "why shouldn't I use a rubbermaid container?" I thought it would be cheaper. I am glad I didn't go for that option. Where did you get the Acrilic Box ?and how much was it ? What are the dimensions? I am looking for a bigger sump .

I don't think you can find a container cheaper than a 10 gallon tank from Wal-mart. I remember buying four recently, one for a sump, one for a quarentine and two more because....because...
because they were less than 10 bucks apiece!;D

:-[ Unfortunately I have very specific size requirements to maximize space available...

Wish I could fit in my 55 gal which is still sitting out in back yard.

I always am thinking, my current tank will be sump for next....

Just need to do some better planning ahead next time....

    :p
