ro/di unit ?

    hello, i am having a huge problem with algea and cyano. i thought that i should buy a ro unit. but instead of buying an expensive ro unit could i just add declorinizor when i add water.

    I haven't started my tank yet and know you should always, always use rodi water. sure, you can sue tap water, but then you get algae outbreaks like you're seeing now. Buddy of mine has used tap water for the past two years and whatya know, he has algae problems.

    Bulk Reef supply and spectrapure (sp?) are the two I would go with.

    Dechlor removes chlorine and thats it.
    A RO/DI purifies the water and removes total dissolved solids which are food for the algae and cyanobacteria.
