It depends on what type. I don't know all too much about flow restrictors, but you'd cut a capillary type at the manufacturer's recommendation. I've never used any other types, either.

24 TDS is high. 0 is the norm.

Are you running a DI stage?

What's TDS before the RO? The ratio of after RO : before RO should be under 10%. If your before RO TDS is 400+, then a after RO of 24 is normal. If it's <100, then it's way abnormal.

24 TDS before DI is fine, you're getting 95% rejection, which is fairly normal.

Its actually 93.5% rejection and that is not good by any stretch of the imagination, you should typically see 96-98% if the membrane is functioning properly. My tap water TDS exceeds 800 and my RO only TDS is only 5-6 maximum. A TDS of 24 will eat DI resin quickly.

370-24=346, 346/370=.935, .935x100=93.5% rejection rate or removal efficiency.

To adjust the waste ratio you need a capillary tube flow restrictor you trim yourself as found at the bottom of the page here for about $5:
    RO MEMBRANES AND FLOW RESTRICTORS

Or get the trim to fit here, not a pretrimmed one:
    http://www.buckeyefieldsupply.com/showproducts.asp?Category=197&Sub=109

They will come with instruction on how to measure the exact waste ratio and how to trim accordingly.

Should I just get a new membrane?

Does cutting the inline the shorter make the rejection rate slower?
