RIVER REEF QUESTION?? carbon??

    Hi

    for those of you that started out with a river reef 94L for marines, i have a question, what does that white carbon and the black carbon actually do? do you need them in the tank. Iv taken mine out ages ago, just wonded really? is it the same as the skimmer because i dont use one either

    my tank seems to be going well with corals, clams and fish etc....
