RIP JohnO (John Oppler)

Today I received word that 3reef Bucket Mod, crazy Austrailian, JohnO, (John Oppler) passed away of a massive heart attack. This is a huge loss for 3reef and all of his friends and family.




I have had the pleasure of his friendship for many years and he will be truly missed. He was a legendary jokester. I became friends with him after reading this incredible thread on RC in which he claimed in this choppy bad English typing that this mysterious 'Monkey Liquid' would reduce nitrates in your aquarium. I believe this was based on Geo Liquid. This thread was several pages long and he had a bunch of us going for days on end. I reached out to him and we became fast friends. We traded off-color jokes for a long time.

He was very funny and smart. Behind the scenes at 3reef, he provided sage advice for sorting out various issues. His insight was extremely helpful.

My condolences to his long time partner, Dianah, and his family and friends. We lost a great one today. I think we should honor his passing with humor. He would like that. Please page through the bucket forum and post a link to your favorite JohnO joke here.

Although I havent been on the forums long enough to know who JohnO was, my condolences are to his family and friends. It's always hard losing a friend and even members of the community.

Wow, that is horrible news. He was always a blast to have around. Our thoughts & prayers will be with his family and loved ones.

 

Wow. I was just talking to him on Sunday too. He was trying to watch the super bowl but was having trouble with some of the rules.

John has been a dear friend of mine for many many years. I have no words, only sadness.

 

Man... I am so sorry to hear this, although I never had the honor of talking with him I waited to read his posts all the time, some of the best jokes I have ever heard!
