So i was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good way to dial back a maxijet?

I have a 400 which has about 100 gph but i need it at about 50 gph.

Something temporary would be great because i only need it at 50gph for a while but if prmanent i will just buy another when i need it back to normal.

    Thank you in advance

Install a short piece of 1/2" tubing and a 1/2" ball valve on the outlet of the pump. It will not harm the pump and you can adjust the valve to whatever GPH you need then remove it when done. You can find the 1/2" inside diameter tubing and valve at any Lowes, HD or other hardware store.

In fact, as I think about it, take the MJ to the hardware store with you. If I remember correctly a 1/2"John Guest style tubing fitting slips over the outlet nipple on a small MJ. You can probably just buy a 1/2" JG ball valve and eliminate and tubing or other connectors for a cleaner installation. I did this for the feed to one of my calcium reactors.

Pretty much the same application i am doing. I hope i can avoid tubing altogether.

So the only one i can find has some metal barbs on the compression ring. This will be in the sump, so i don't know if it will work or not. Any advice on that?

I think the ones I bought also had those metal barbs or "teeth". I think they are what keeps the tubing from coming back out? I think they are on the outside of the tubing as well, not on the inside where the water/fluid would be flowing

I also can confirm a 1/2" JG fits on a MJ400. I used it for water changes until I blew up the impeller, again...

The teeth would be on the outside of the tubing, but would still be under water. We are still talking about tiny slivers of metal, but no idea what type of metal it is our if it would make contact with the water.

The grippers are high grade stainless so will last for years submerged.
