I got a torch coral today and just today he was out and happy, then a hermit fell and bumped him. He shrank back in his skeleton and released a red stringy thing. Also his tentacles look deflated and small but he still has his color. Any ideas on what happened?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The coral will most likely be just fine. Sounds as though it expelled it's fluid and some waste, common.
