    i have a closed loop system and this is the only pump.. is there a way of fixing this??
    or do i have to run out to the store and buy another?

    Sounds like you need a new impeller. Without a guard on the intake, it's possible that something could sucked in. Fine sand can wear it out quickly, as well. How old is the pump?

    There is also a piece in the end cap that could have worn out. It holds the impeller in the outer casing. You'll have to take the pump apart and take a look.

    Is it possible that a snail could have gotten in there and the shell is hitting the impeller?

    no, i have no snails, i took the pump apart and its the impeller, the "friendly" people at danner mfg were so kind to let me know if i fax over a recipet they may be able to ship out a new one by MONDAy!? are you kidding me? they could atleast overnight one?

    wound up purchasing a new impeller at the LFS and just going to have the new one they're sending over in a week :shifty: as a back up

    Is your pump loud as heck? I have a mag 24 for my closed loop and I find it so loud I turn it off some times cuz its annoying.
