Hey i have a nice size piece of red caulerpa in my tank. It is growing fast and i was wondering if there is any reason i shouldnt have it in my tank! I know it is a macro algae and i was planning on moving it to the back of the tank, to the refugium when it is ready. I have been removing my bioballs, about a hand full at a time, during my weekly water changes. I should have all of them removed in another couple of weeks. Will the red caulerpa grow along side cheato?

your fine, what your thinking about doing will absolutely work. If it grows too fast just trim it in half.

do you have sps corals....I dont understand why not, but sps and calurpa dont get along very well! I have never had calurpra but I have heard it can go asexual and release all its nutrients also!

It's a pain to get rid of once it gets hold. I'd take it out of my system. Stuff is bad news IMO...

i do have some sps corals. I have read that it can go asexual to. I would like to keep the caulerpa cuz it looks cool and grows fast and is beneficial to the tank, but if it could mess with the sps, than i might put it in a different tank without sps.

That is not caulerpa. It's Botryocladia. It doesn't have the invasive nature of caulerpa.
