found this weird thing in my new tank. It hitched a ride on the live sand i pulled from my dads tank... it kinda looks like some kind of nem, except with the legs of a starfish. it is not really that mobile

I had something similar to this but never knew what it was..haven't seen it in about 2 months. Are the legs long an flexible? Mine didn't appear to have much far a joints in the legs. The legs looked like long skinny worms just as they do here... It was really small, but the legs were extremely long compared to the body. :/

has it moved at all or changed in size?

Anemones tend to drestically change in size depending on their "happiness" in their environment.

you might want to type putting some food near it with a long tweezer to see it if goes for the food.

if none of that works i'd try to take a better picture of it and go to your local fish store... there is a possibilty of it being a parasite or something harmful to your tank.
so you should figure it out ASAP in case it is harmful so it doesn't spread or hurt other things in your tank....

Mine looked kind of like a spider with a million legs, similar to this.

maybe... Every spaghetti I've seen in a tank has been clear - this thing is red with little black dots in a pattern... but does have that look to it

I'd cage it off until I knew for sure what it is... if I couldn't get a positive ID, I'd throw it out.

I have the white/clear ones, along with yellow, orange and reddish ones, so I think you just got unlucky with your variety pack :p

It does look like a spaghetti worm, but they usually like to stay in rocks, so I'm not sure. Do the tentacles move around? Do they retract back in?
