So the piece of raw shrmip that i put in last week, floated to the top of the tank last night, and this morning it broke apart and pieces were flying everywhere, and a large part of the shrimp is still floating. I tested my tank today and it is very very close to be done with cycling. Will the scattered shrimp pieces hurt or help the cycling process. And should i take out the large piece of floating shrimp or leave it.

I don't think it really matters. Just let it be.

It should not cause a problem as long as you get the majority that you can out. I have had the same thing happen to me before. The last time I did it I used the little cheese cloth bags they sell at the grocery store to keep it contained.

I'd leave it for the hermits and snails personally.

If the tank is cycled ... its no longer having an affect.
