I've had this acan for a little over a month. It started out as 2 heads and now has 9 heads coming in. Is this normal growth for Acans?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It sure is pretty. Are you feeding the coral? The new polyps could have been so small you did not notice them initially.

I can tell you this, if they are not shrinking away to nothing then it is not normal growth I have experienced with Acans.

The smaller heads had to be super tiny because when I first got it, it barely opened for the first few days and I could only see two. Regardless they have grown a lot! And my other acans are growing as well. It's odd they seem to be growing faster than zoas

With the right conditions acans are fast growers. You'll start seeing little heads coming out of nowhere. I've noticed target feeding speeds up growth for me.

    Very nice Acan.
Like a lot of the corals out there it seems there is a wide variance on how particular corals grow even within the same family.
I have multiple Acans in same tank and some are fast growers and others are not. Same with the Zoas, paly, Acro etc... Some explode and others take the turtle approach!

Either way you should be psyched!!

I can't get my acans to extend polyps to feed them. I have no idea what i do wrong with my acans.

I usually will blow some reef roids over mine 15 min before I feed Mysis.
