I'm getting into some of the SPS corals and figured I need to start dosing to keep everything in line. I've never dosed anything before. Just do weekly WC with Red Sea Coral Pro salt mix. What is the easiest way for a beginner to start dosing ? A two part dosing system or should I try Randy's 2 part recipe. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

I got into 2 part dosing with a BRS kit. Was cheap and came with everything(gallon jugs pumps and measuring cups). Never tried to make my own as i hate hunting thru HD for supplies but i read the article and it sounds pretty simple.

Do you want to dose manually or with a dosing pump?

Start off manually. No money for a pump at the moment with Christmas around the corner.

And FWIW, BRS uses Randy's recipes.

I have jugs already and Epsom salt. All I need is baking soda and the calcium carbonate stuff. I'll be set I think.

    Why not try this:

WC 10-20% weekly, add the corals, and keep testing params and see IF you need to dose?

I think If I did my WC's, even with my large coral load, I may not need to dose.

I'm currently ucing Kent, which is high in the Big it seems from my testing and
cutting back on my manual dosing.

I do a 4 gallon WC weekly with Red Sea coral pro salt. That's about 20 to 25 % of my water volume. 20 gallon tall tank. Maybe I'll get lucky and not have to dose. If I do I found Calcium Hardness as my local pool supply shop. It's 100% calcium chloride. Would that work ?
