Raising Salinity?

    Look, the amount of salt i.e 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup is not whats important. Whats important is the specific gravity of the water. So it may take a 1/2 cup of salt per gallon but you need to check it with a refractometer or hydrometer before adding it. Don't rely on measurements unless you've tested it before.

    every body does it different the most important thing is to make sure ur saltwater is fully mixed before adding it to the tank period .

    Okay, say I do what you said, add the 1/4 or 1/2. I test the premixed solution and it reads, 1.024 (example). If I add that in my tank, what will that do to the 1.021, how far up will it go up?

    how fast does your water evaporate? I go through 2 gallons of RO water a day but I have an automatic top off system.

    my tank was at .21 when i added my 20L a few weeks ago ive been bumping it up for 2 weeks to get to .25 and i premixed 5 gallon at .25 and have been topping off with it so u can do it how ever u choose just make sure ur saltwater is fully mixed

    It depends on how much you add. If you add 10%, that might bring it up to 1.022. Do that once a day it might take 4 days depending on how high you want your target SG. I keep my tank at 1.025 but I have corals.

    Sure hope you mean 1.021 and not 1.21. ;) JK we knew what you meant.

    Thinking about it, 1.021 isn't dangerous for clown fish, is it?

    do u have a hydrometer or a refractometer? how many times did u test ur water ? aare u sure thats the right reading?
