    i have 40lbs fineand 40 lbs coarse, and im trying to rinse it.

    does it ahve to be rodi water that it gets rinsed in? or can it be regular tap?

    I'd use rodi, The sand may act as a filter and filter out some tap nasties!

    I've always used tap with no problems. If it's for a new tank, your system will dilute and digest any residual contaminants during the cycle.

    If you have municipal water and you're adding the sand to an established tank, you can put a few drops of dechlorinator in the container once the sand has been rinsed and let it sit for a while.

    i do have city water, and it will be for a brand new tank!! thank you ! you just saved me a butt load of time!
