Urgent quick id on snails please

    i just got these two snails and was wondering what kind they were. I'm almost ready to put them in the tank so i want to know if they are safe, else they will go to the fuge. any ideas? thanks.

    I think that they're safe, Since I see them only on the glass. Never on the zoas, nem or gorgonian that I have in the tank that they came from. But I'm not 100% sure.
    I think it would be wise to keep them in the fuge for a week or so just to be safe.

    Good ID page Crimson, Lots of snails there that I had no idea of. These were collected from the Caribbean though so narrowing the search down to the Caribbean region would be a start.

    thanks. nice link. I think it could be whelk. it has the one long thin tentacle and shell looks exactly like that. It's in the fuge for now anyway.

    yeah, i'll keep them in the fuge until i get a positive id. thanks for them btw.
    the zoas are open and look really cool under the lights. i really like the light. thanks again.

    It's a Dove Shell, or columbellid. It's in the same family and probably the same genus with the snails often sold in the hobby as "Strombus grazers." It should be perfectly safe for your tank.
