So now that all the fish in my tank are gone is this going to remove the cycle? I still have quite a bit of coral, a BTA, 25 assorted hermits and snails, crabs and cleaner shrimp. Should I just continue to feed as normal and allow the excess to break down? I don't want to completely break every thing down as I will leave it fish less for 8 weeks then start over.

For crypto or brook, as long as there are no fish in the tank, the disease will die out. Inverts are OK. It takes 6-8 weeks. Some forms can go dormant for longer, but from I gather that's rare.

As long as you have something that's eating and producing waste, no you won't lose your biofilter. I wouldn't waste the extra food as that would only lead to high nitrates. When you're ready, you will need to add fish slowly though, same as when you first started your tank.
