I believe you can add 5ml to 50 gallon ratio direct into your tank
select an area of high flow, so that its distributed rapidly

but it might be a better idea to remove a cup full of tank water
add the required amount of essential elements
and then distribute it randomly over the water surface

Never ever add anything to your reef tank unless you first have reliable test kits for each ingredient in that supplement or additive, and use the kits on a regular basis so you know you have a demand for that substance and it is in fact depleted.

If you have a large stony coral population, SPS and LPS, its usualy calcium, alkalinity and magnesium that need to be supplemented. If you have a lightly stocked system or soft corals, 99 times out of 100 all you need to do is regular water changes with a name brand salt mix, thats it.

Stick to simple, you won't regret it and you will have a more stable, robust system.
