I will be running a phosban 150 with ecoBAK on a reef tank. I would like a suitable pump to run the reactor, separate from my return pump.

Would the Maxi Jet 600 be a good choice? It is just a powerhead, but Bulk Reef Supply recommended the maxi jet pump for their reactors, and they would use the same mechanics a a regular pump.

"The Phosban 150 is compatible with with any pump with a flow rate between 100 and 250gph and 1/2 inch connections." - How would I connect the pump to the reactor?

plastic tubing and hose clamps would be the way to connect them

and yes any pump/ power head with a rating in the correct range would be OK IMHO

I would get a MJ1200 and a ball valve. You gotta take into account the head of 14" or so of the 1/2" tubing.

Thank you, Steve. Hose clamps would work.

What is the connection piece in this picture?

1/2" Coupling. BRS sells them, Lowes and HD might have them.

I use the max jet 1200 for my dual reactors and it works fine. The connection piece you are refering to is a tubing union but it locks the tubing in so you wont need a hose clamp with this type of fitting. they work great

Yes, I noticed I looked similar to a union valve.

Just use 1/2" (ID) vinyl tubing. It's really what the fittings on the reactor are designed for.

I use a rio 400 on mine. There is a ball value and a little black ratchet style hose clamp included with the reactor.

You can see it (through the CA precipitate) on the bottom left:
