I just bought a Pulsing Xenia about a week ago.

When I first received it was open and pulsing so to speak...

Now after a week it sits there not fully open.

I went to the LPS and he tested all my levels and it seemed just fine...

My lighting are T5 HO lights...

Is this in an area of too much flow?

Thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

With xenia it's easy to tell if they're in too much flow..they just get thrown around quite aggressively..Mine only pulse in very little flow..others only pulse in stronger flow..just depends on their personal preference i guess..let them sit in different flow areas for a while and eventually you should find a spot they like

Is it possible that if I move the frag around a lot the coral can become stressed?

I mean, I have tried 2 different spots over the past week...

I have a somewhat small piece of xenia in my tank..and they moved off their shell that was wedged in the LR and started to encroach upwards on my fiji leather...i ripped them off the rock..glued them back on the shell..stuck them somewhere else..and 3 days later they're back to normal..just moving them shouldn't hurt..especially if they're not real happy in the spot they're already in..i wouldn't recommend doing it like 5 times a day though lol

it actually took mine about a month before I noticed any pulsing..I guess they were still just acclimating..just give them some time and one day they'll be goin nuts and then start covering everything in your tank!

Do you add anything for filterfeeders..?? Alot of people may think it doesn't matter.. I think it does any tank good.. I have had mine stop pulsing .. Thats when I check my tank.. On one side of my tank they are pulsing. Different then the other side..
They seem to have a mink of there own..
But give them time to get used to your water..

    Good Luck, Larry
