so......
i just got your protein skimmer.
how long does it usually take to break in?
it also releases a lot of micro bubbles into the water. is the problem going to
solve itself after the skimmer breaks in?
the pump is making a pretty loud buzzing sound. is it normal? i watched a video of the skimmer in youtube and i was completely silent.
i also get dirty water in the collection cup (i guess it means the skimmer works) - i thought i'm only suppose to get foam.

skimmer takes 1 week to break in. after that, you will start getting good performance. as for water, foam will become dirty water which is what you want.

 

i turned it off to empty the collection cup and now nothing happens. :-/ the water stays at the same level in the skimmer's body and the pump makes a weird noise. it seems like it doesn't take water out of the tank.

 

you lost siphpon, re-start siphon again.

 

i'm not sure how to do that.
(sorry for all the questions, i'm new into skimming).

i do exactly as the instructions say. it worked before, it just stopped working after turning it off. air tubing is crimped, the skimmer is half full with water. exactly as i did earlier.

 

Update: the collection cup overflowed within seconds with water. i disconnected it, and now the pump doesn't work.

 

update: the impeller was broken, got it fixed. as for the overflowing - the water lever was too high, that's my theory anyway.
the skimmer broke in after 1 day(!!!!) and it skims out the smelliest thing i ever smelt - it actually smells like a dead anemone.

shot us your address to [email protected]. we will get your impeller out. if you say it smell, that mean your tank really need some skimming. that explain why the skimmer overflow. way too much to skim and junk there. that's why your impeller broke, haha.
