A couple of months ago I added two Six Line Wrasse to our 85 gallon tank. They immediately hung out together even though they were held in different tanks at the LFS. They also slept in the same cave and made their gel sleeping bags side by side. The tank is fairly new and they only have two YT Blue Damsels and a Coral Banded shrimp as company.

They starting displaying mating activity such as gliding side by side in the currents and doing fin displays while beside each other. We believe the female (small one) is pregnant as she has developed a protruding belly.

I cannot find any info about Wrasse mating, breeding, laying eggs or live bearer. Can anyone point out where we can learn what to do? Catching the Damsels is probably not an option.

    Thanks,

I don't believe that they have been bred in captivity.

Thanks, very interesting site but nothing on breeding the 6 line. This might be a first so will let you know what comes out, eggs or fry. Definitely an exciting possibility.

that would be incredible! i would get that coral shrimp out of there if you really think they are gong to mate/are mating, i wouldnt take the chance of him getting the babies.

    Eggs!

Well, it happened. The six line lay eggs. I have some pictures and a detailed story but no time right now to put it together. Will try and update later today/tonight.
