Does anyone turn there powrheads off at night to simulate a calmer ocean? Maybe I should put them on the timer with the Metal Halides to turn off at the same time?

No clue if it would work, but it would be cool if you could turn them down with a dimmer switch.

If you have a sump pump going (or circulation from something else), you could probably just turn them off at night.

I have an electronic controller on my Tunze powerhead with a photocell. At night it goes to half power. I dig that.

There may be other 'wave timers' out there with a photocell or night time option.

    No prob.
Last night I noticed AquaMedic makes a wave timer power strip with a photocell, not sure how much it costs.. probably isn't the cheapest one for sure.

i bet you could rig something up to adjust the flow. just wire a wall unit dimmer switch in series with the power cord. you could even mount on your stand just so the cover plate is only showing.
that gave me good idea im going to do tha this weekend.
